Show Update: Visiting Cabaret Party tonight

Tonight I am driving to "Cabaret Party," an open-mic night with actors at the Orlando Rep. It's a three hour long night with drinks and singing and fun. The ad is designed and sent to Jester Theater to appear in their program. I don't have a rehearsal space so I don't have any new songs to share. :(

I have rehearsals Friday and Sunday, a program ad for Jester Theater is due Friday and "Fabulous Fringe," a benefit, is Monday night. I just found out I am performing a small part in it with three very funny people from SAK!

New Scene: Boss and his secretary

New Scene (recorded 2-10-06): I wore my hands-free cell phone mic during rehearsal to see if it would produce an audio file decent enough to listen to. This is scene one of a long-form musical, based on the suggestion "money." I play both characters, an old bank president and his secretary. It's 11 minutes long and includes one place where I stop and start (It's a rehearsal).

Show Update 2-11-06

2-11-06
Today's musical rehearsal is canceled due to the space being already taken by another group. :( Last night's rehearsal with Franciso from Slothco Productions went very well, and got recorded. Sound file to come. All the emails from Beth Marshall, that I've read and tossed into the "Fringe 06" folder in my email inbox will be read this weekend. The design for the show (posters, etc) is not something I am looking forward to, despite enjoying the work I did for Foolfest. But, I remember from past Fringes that the top-selling show had crap posters- it was the show that did the selling, through word-of-mouth. The Improv Cabaret website is thought through. This blog might turn into a website with links to the blog, podcast and sound files.

Short update today: Tonight's rehearsal is coming up at 5:15pm with Franciso from Slothco Productions. He's helping with show structure. Cabaret festival application is due next Friday. Friend is going to draw me for my poster when he has the time. probably won't be available to use for the Cabaret Festival submission. The graphic design of the poster should be good.

More from that first meeting with Beth Marshall on 2-6-06. Details on marketing: posters, handbills, posting on tables, giveaways, word-of-mouth, the beer tent, the outdoor stage, Kid's Fringe, handing out things while people are waiting in line for another show. Tech information I skip. Orlando Cabaret Festival is open and applications are due in two weeks. Ad purchased from Jester Theater in their program for Musical of Musicals the Musical. March 1 three things are due: logo, blurb and show rating.

I went to the very first meeting for producers of shows in the 2006 Orlando Fringe. It was an informational session and in this update, all the things Beth Marshalll (Fringe Director) went over in the meeting, I go over with you. Things like due-dates and marketing and show ratings. Uploaded new audio and video from this weekend's rehearsals and set up the show's podcast on Itunes. Next weekend is the second round of info sessions by Beth Marshall. Tonight at 6pm she's giving in info session as well. Lots of info sessions. Jester Theater is selling ad space in their program for Musical of Musicals the Musical. This blog isn't being promoted yet. I need to.
